Clay Hole, Winchburgh

The clay hole at Winchburgh has always been a good venue for pike fishing. However over the last few years the venue has been off the boil due to it being drained down some 4 years ago.

The venue also holds some tench and roach /bream hybrids. It is very deep in places and can only be fished from one or two places. The bottom of the run down on the canal side is one, the railway side can be fished with a bit of a hike around the top of the quarry.

The best method is float fished dead baits for the pike. They do go to double figures but can be very difficult to catch.

Caution is required when fishing this venue due to the nature of the banking and the lack of nearby facilities.
The venue is pictured above looking towards the railway tracks.
