Union Canal
Another section of the canal worth a visit would be the section near Hermiston gate, Edinburgh. There is quite a good head of reach and perch with the odd pike thrown in for good measure. The city council recently stocked roach into a nearby section and they seam to be spreading out nicely.
Head along the A71 away from Edinburgh towards Ratho, after joining the A71 there is a slip road on the right before the traffic lights. Take the road up to the right and take the first turning on the right towards the industrial estate. Just before the industrial estate there is a turning on the left, take this and park on the road before the bridge. Ensure you do not block the exit to the works.
Cross over the bridge by foot and fish either side of the bridge both sections are reasonable.
As with most canal work pole is probably the best method with fine lines and small baits, waggler is good when the water is clear as the pole tends to scare the fish off.
