Markle Fisheries
Markle fisheries is located along the A1 towards the town of East Linton, East Lothian. The venue has three lakes to around 4 acres, two are fly only lakes but the third which is set off to the left of the car park is the coarse lake, which holds carp to double figures, roach, rudd and golden rudd. There are also some crucian carp and tench all about the 1lb Mark. The lake is also used as a bait pond for trout, so getting through to the coarse fish can be a bit of a challenge.
Saying that there is some good sport to be had with the trout on light tackle and they do tend to test the tackle.
Head east along the A1 past Haddington, towards East Linton. Just after the turn off for East Fortune there is a straight and just prior to the hill and the caravan park on the left, there is a turning to the left sign posted for Markle fisheries. Follow this road up and round the corner at the top then turn right after the cottages. Follow down hill and take the turning on the right and follow along to the fishery which has a sign outside prior to the railway crossing. Take this track all the way up to the car park.
